Next we head to Anbangband billabong, one of the more attractive looking billabongs of Kakadu. Of course no swimming and you could guess why. I think the reeds are a great place for a big FAT croc to hide and wait for picnicers.
Last walk of the day was Nawurlandja lookout to view Gunwarrdewarrde (stone country). This walk was only around 600m from the car park but what a 600 m it was. It was a steep trek up slopped rock faces which required a few breaks for little Pip. The photo at the top of the blog shows Pip on top of one of the rocks at the top. This view was sooo cool, we sat there for about 1/2 hr just watching out across the park. I think even Pip felt a little rush of emotion as she said to me " Thanks mum for taking me around Australia, this is beautiful" aahhhh...
The walk getting up to the top
Nearly at the top
The view from the top
and on the way back down
Back to the park for a swim to cool off.
Sitting chatting to a elderly lady traveling solo .. we hear this barking noise, well there are no dogs here and the dingoes ( saw one wandering aimlessly on the road today)
well they can't bark. The lady, whose name unfortunately we never got, said can you hear the barking OWLS. "Dead set' the owls, 2 of them were barking. I tried to tape them but each time I got too close the buggers stopped.
